Static8.com Journal Entry

16 August 2003 ... More...

Don't you just love those short, little, five or six line journal entries. Re: yesterday's "Yay, I have a Palm" entry. *rolls the eyes* Sheesh, you'd think I would have a bit more to say about something so exciting as a new toy.

I am in love with my tiny little Palm. I can read (well,as soon as I figure out how to get my books on it), I can write (once I figure out graffiti), I can play games (stupid, addicting time-wasters!), and I can keep track of all the books and dvds I want to buy (as soon as I get the software).

Heh, so yeah, I think I'll be in the learning stage for a while. Graffiti is one of the ways you can enter text into the handheld. Basically, you write a letter with the stylus into the Graffiti area, and then that letter shows up as text on the main screen. Simple, right? ha. I think my main problem is that my handwriting is too small. Plus, some of the letters have to be written as uppercase, some lowercase. And some you can write either way. Practice!

Meantime, I've been playing the games. Thursday night I played 8 or 9 years of SimCity. I've got a pleasent little lake-side city going, with a nuclear plant in the north and just bought a stadium for the south end. They used to think I was a great mayor... but I've recently run out of money, so now they complain about taxes.

Friday night was pinball night. silly game.

the Friday Five

1. How much time do you spend online each day?
Between SO and I, we usually log just under 100 hours every month. During weekdays, I am online zero to three hours. On weekend days I usually surf six or seven hours.

2. What is your browser homepage set to?
I have mine set to a local (on my computer) html file where I have listed my most important general links. On the left side of the page, I've got my websites and website maintenance links. On the right bottom there are web mail and forum links.

3. Do you use any instant messaging programs? If so, which one(s)?
I used to have ICQ, but I abandoned it a long time ago. Having people interrupt my surfing session was really quite annoying.

4. Where was your first webpage located?
I can't remember the exact URL but it was on the colostate.edu server at CSU. That would have been around 1996 or so? Since then, I've had web sites at Athens.net, Crosswinds, Netscape, Earthlink, Suite101, Rainbows Bridge and a couple private locations.

5. How long have you had your current website?
Static8.com has been happily hosted by DreamHost since January 2000. And this web incarnation officially began on 10 June 1998. (boy, what a depressing first entry.)
