Yay Books! And Yay Celebrating our Freedoms! The books I've read on the Top 100 Challenged Books List...
Since last year, I've only added one book to my list of banned books, #17 A Day No Pigs Would Die. It was harsh, but I'm glad I read it... And, I am very proud to say that my Significant Other has also read a banned book this year. #69 Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut. SO is not a reader, so it's a happy day when he actually finishes a book!! This year, I think I'm going to get #37 The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood. and maybe some Fahrenheit 451. And maybe re-read George Orwell's 1984... And again, my favorite part from the Freedom to Read Statement... We trust Americans to recognize propaganda and misinformation, and to make their own decisions about what they read and believe. We do not believe they are prepared to sacrifice their heritage of a free press in order to be "protected" against what others think may be bad for them.
