Journal Entry

28 November 2000 ... My Journal Writing
I write.

At the moment I am keeping four journals.

  • The Static Journal. Which would be this one. Admittedly, I haven't actually written here in a while. Well, ya know, it happens. But I am thinking about some new stuff for this journal, so keep tuned.

  • An Anonymous Online Journal. That's right. I'm writing online and you don't even know it. ha!

  • My Regular Paper Journal. It's a 100 page spiral bound and I'm about half way through it. It's my fifth one this year, but I don't think I will be able to finish it. Since I started working, I haven't been writing as much as I used to.

  • The new Notebook. This is a little 5 by 7 spiral. I'm trying to remember to carry it around with me, just to jot down random thoughts. Because everyone has random thoughts while they are trying to drive home and have to wait for the damn train to get out of the way.
Ah, the journaling experience.

And it all started right here, back in June of 1998. I started updating my website with my random thoughts. I hadn't even heard of online journals back then, and I had no clue that's was what I was doing. I just thought it would be really cool to have a web site which had new content every time you visited.

At some point, I figured out my site was really a journal, and there were tons of people out there doing the same thing. There's a whole community out there. 'Course, being my loner self, I haven't really joined it. heh.

In January 1999, I started my paper journal in earnest. It began with The Artist's Way morning pages. The idea behind morning pages is to get up early and write three pages of brain drain. Unfortunately, they forgot to mention that morning pages tend to back fire on people with depression. heh. But my morning pages actually lasted for a few months.

The morning pages got modified. They were no longer written in the morning. I switched from loose leaf paper to a spiral notebook. I started buying more expensive pens. I think my writing got more free. I bought colored pens. I wrote more. I even added an occasional sketch.

In the last couple of months, I have had less time on my hands and the journal writing has... suffered? I haven't written a story in a long time. My current notebook has no sketches at all.

I wish I had more time. You know. To write.
