26 Aug 2006 ... Update

Well, it's been rather a tough week... On Monday, I wasn't feeling well, and instead of sending myself home from work, I totally screwed up an entire big order of car magnets. And then I accidently blamed it on my boss. Ordinarily, I would take responsibility for myself, but, being sick, I wasn't thinking properly.

So, I am ashamed of myself for that entire day.

Then on Tuesday, I did a pretty good number on my back. And hip, and shoulder, and neck. And my chronic rib decided to join the pain party as well.

So the rest of the week, me and my pain pills just tried to survive.

All this week, the sandwiches I took for lunch were made of homemade wheat bread with homemade black olive hummus!!! This is the coolest thing Ever!

And I'm am looking forward to the day when I get my courage up to make some homemade granola bars. I've been eating the overly expensive organic granola bars, but I'm not terribly attached to them.

Significant Other took me to see Who Killed the Electric Car? Pretty depressing: General Motors makes 1,000 electric cars (EV1), leases them out, people love them and crow about them, people who want one are on a waiting list. Then GM takes them away and crushes them. despicable.

One of the things that stood out for me in the documentary, was the EV1 car commercial. GM spent millions on premium advertising agencies, and got exactly what they wanted... It was one of the CREEPIEST things I've ever seen. Creepy. Grey colour scheme, creepy shadows, only showing the butt of the car, creepy female voice-over. It was creepy, I tell you. GM obviously wanted no one to buy their own car.

My friend at work loaned me her copy of The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide, it includes Douglas Adams' classic The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and his four other Hitchhiker books.

This has been on my "to Read someday, because it's a classic" list. And I'm glad to be finally reading the series... Because it's Brilliant! The writing is simple, sharp, witty. The tone is slightly sarcastic with this mild dark humor on the edge.

Every few pages, there is some new thing that makes me react... either laugh out loud or snort at the irony. Yay, good reading!
