31 Aug 2006 ... Booking Through Thursday |
Motivation: Thurs 31 Aug 2006
I can't decide! between my sci fi novels and my creativity/art journalling books! I can't live without either. Well, at least there are only two subjects as "favorite"... This would be a long paragraph if I listed all the subjects that I read. When I think "science fiction", I think David Brin. He's my favorite author. I especially love science fiction that includes animals, since I'm an animal person. David Brin has dolphins and chimps and gorillas. Anne McCaffrey has dragons (and dolphins), Tara K. Harper has wolves. My favorite art journalling books are by Hanna Hinchman. Her watercolours and nature studies are lovely and inspire me to go outside and draw flowers and bugs and stuff. :)
With science fiction books, I like to explore new worlds and see what imaginative new toys people have. hmm. Yep, the technology is what I like best about sci fi... give me some cyberpunk plugins, please! I also enjoy a good social experiment... I would love to live with the anarchists in Ursula K. Le Guin's The Dispossessed. (well, maybe if they had some trees and animals there on their poor desert planet!) And with books about journalling and creativity, I like to be inspired, and also like to learn about different techniques. I devote a part of every day to my journalling, and I like to keep it spiced up with new ideas... new writing ideas, new things to draw, new ways to draw, new painting things, new crafty things.
Yay books! I'm not sure how I will work through the archives at Booking Through Thursday... but there are lots of prompts I want to type about. And this updating the site only once a week thing that I've been doing for the past few months? yeah, that's just not working for me. I am so lame. More blogging is required of me! More, I say! |
